Feminine, neuter and plural adjectives must have suffixes so they can match the subject. See Past Tensemuž byl dobry, муж был добры (husband was good)
žena byla dobra, жена была добра (wife was good)
diete bylo dobre, дьете было добре (child was good)
bylo mnogo ljudi, было много люди (there were many people)
BE verb doesn't require Instrumental case but it can be used.
Instrumental exists only in Belarussian, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian:
On jest dobrym synem (He is a good son [Instrumental])
Nominative version (Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Slovak, Serbian, Slovene):
On jest dobry syn (He is a good son [Nominative])
